Description
Today, I visited the railroad museum in Bochum-Dahlhausen for the first time. Should do that more often, as I can get here for free with my student's ticket, and it's not much further than my university is. Did you know that on the first Sunday of every month, they have a steam train running between here and Hagen? Neither did I. Awesome surprise!
I didn't know that when I took this photo of course, showing the Wismarer Schienenbus, doing a shuttle service between the S-Bahn station Bochum-Dahlhausen and the museum itself. I'm sure you know it from Dennis' photos, common nicknames for it being Schweineschnäuzchen (piggy nose) or Ameisenbär (anteater). Just a few minutes after I took the shot, it was merrily droning back the way it came, with me and two other gents on board.
If you want a sneak peek, here's a DSO thread with some of the highlights. I put in only a few pics from the museum, as everyone seems to know that, and I didn't want to spam. So if you're missing the steamer shots, don't worry, they're in the making.
There was also an airship that circled over the area, and as you can see in the DSO post, I did ride IC1817. In case you don't remember this pic or perhaps this one, an InterCity train between Cologne and Hamburg is being hauled by the awesome 10.000hp monster, that is the class 103, complete with TEE carriages. I just can't get enough of this machine...
Anyways, be prepared for awesome and epic all at once!
