Barbed Wire

I thought I'd also upload a shot taken from a nearby road bridge, showing the four locomotives you saw up close earlier. Just to give a little perspective of the compound, the front of which you may remember from my numerous photos. The rear has seen quite a few changes recently, since the freight line has been rerouted to join the passenger line much earlier, freeing up the no man's land that used to be enclosed by the two lines running parallel, making it available to new housing developments. This also made it necessary to move the death rail that leads into the scrapyard, which now branches off the freight line, rather than the passenger line. And instead of just leading straight into the yard, two switches have been added, one being visible under the third locomotive in this picture. This will give more storage space for locomotives awaiting the cutting torch.

You can also see the new fence on the right, still propped up by wooden posts while the concrete dries. I assume that the barbed wire visible in the bottom left corner will also be extended, making this a high security compound, which in turn also means that I won't be able to get close to the locomotives any more. It's a good thing that I did photograph them up close as often as I did in the past few years, as that opportunity is set to disappear quite soon.

And yes, that one locomotive sticking out from the bunch is 115 205 that you saw from inside.
