I just thought of this as a boring shot until told me that this engine is the first of the class 185 to be built and put on the rails in the year 2009. Somehow, I kinda liked the image, again showcasing what one can do with a proper camera and nice autofocus modes, and because it is just boring: This class 185 is a member of the Bombardier TRAXX family, consisting of three-phase AC electrics and also diesels. Most of these were built for Germany, but many are also being sold to other European countries. Needless to say, you can find them at every corner, in freight variants such as this one here, quad voltage ones for international traffic, regional ones with destination indicators etc. etc.
Quite frankly, they are just boring somehow. True, the previous engine generations weren't too interesting either, such as the boxy "Einheitsbaureihen" of the former Deutsche Bundesbahn, but gems like the Bügelfalte or the absolutely awesome and powerful class 103 could really shine. Nowadays, even the high speed engines don't look too different from this one here, making trains less and less interesting objects to shoot as such.
