Description

Went to a swap meet for old videogames last week, and against my expectations, I did end up buying some stuff, such as some old Game Boy and PS games. I also saw a reasonable amount of old hardware, though most of it was in rather bad shape. Just a small hint, if you want to sell something, be it an old console or an old car, it does help tremendously if you just clean them before showing them to potential buyers. But much of the stuff was just very worn and scratched, which no amount of cleaning could save. On one table, I saw a NES Four Score, an adapter that allows one to connect up to four controllers. Now there aren't many games that support this, and those that do are of the kind that I wouldn't want to play, such as sports games. Still, I thought it would be a neat thing to have. The guy selling it said that it's pretty rare, and wanted 10€ for it. I just walked away, and soon afterwards, came up to another stand that had a whole heap of NES hardware. Among the jumbled mess, there were also several Four Scores, and I was offered one, plus two controllers, for 10€. Now that was worth it for the controllers alone! And the guy was even patient enough to let me fish through the mess, looking at each controller and trying all the buttons before I was finally able to settle on two quite well preserved ones, both in terms of appearance and the good feel of non-worn buttons.

So yeah, I now have five NES controllers, three good ones, a not that good one and a bad one. Looks like collecting and tinkering with old videogame consoles is becoming my new hobby.
