Dark, Damp, Dreary

I guess you all know how much I adore the legendary DB class 103:



Well, she was underway again today, pulling the InterCity replacement train from Cologne to Flensburg. Since I get to come home early on Fridays, I thought I'd hunt her down, even looking for a new photo spot, as my usual ones would get too repetitive. Sadly though, this spot is just as not-quite-nice as the entire Ruhr basin, which is after all known for its industry, not green meadows or stunning landscapes.

The bigger problem however was the weather. There was snow forecast for today, but no snow was to be found. It was cold as fuck though, slightly damp and misty, as well as a bit dark, due to a thick cloud cover. Very bad if you want to do stuff like standing around outside, taking photos of trains. I was rather dissatisfied with my usual shots of the 103, so I thought I'd go with something different this time. A very wide crop, in b+w, showing the bleak nothingness that sums up a mainline going through the bit of nowhere between Düsseldorf and Duisburg.

What do you think? I'll probably submit a more standard shot later on I think.
