End of the Day

Hope you all had a pleasant Christmas!

We decided to ditch the festivities altogether this year, mostly due to the fact that we're on ski vacation and not at home. This might sound harsh, but there was no stress, no running around, no shoving a tree into our aparment, no last minute gifts, or any gifts for that matter, no cooking, no baking, and most of all, no cleaning up everything once eveyone left. And as an added bonus, no unpleasant family members, or in other words, no acting nice to said unpleasant family members. So on Christmas eve, we didn't do anything, apart from watching the Indiana Jones marathon. And as ~acela showed me, that was quite fitting to say the very least.

And in the meantime, I've been skiing each and every hour of every day, from the moment we were out of the hotel to the moment when the lifts closed down for the night. With the rented contemporary skis, my confidence is back and bigger than ever. Or I have a magic aura that makes everyone else fall when I'm near them, thus making me feel like a pro. We had some very stormy weather the day before yesterday, so stormy that the lifts had to shut down one by one. Thankfully, I selected the one that ran the longest that day. And today, there was a LOT of fresh snow, turning once boring pistes into tricky piles of unexpectedly deep powder. But I just kept on going as I always do, and didn't have any trouble to report. The new helmet isn't annoying, the new goggles don't fog up like the old ones, all is well in ski-land.

Took this pic today while skiing down all the way to the valley station of the main cabin lift. As you can see, the cabins have already been stored for the night, while the seats of the chair lift have been left out, with the backrests folded down. It's always a special feeling to be one of the last skiers to populate the piste before everything shuts down for good.
