Fall from Paradise

With our 103s apparently out of service, I thougt I could at least shoot some 110s at my usual photo spots. Sadly though, every time I went down to the line to catch the rush hour booster train, it was hauled by a 111. I realize that I've predicted the end of the class 110 several times, and each time, I was somehow proven wrong, with small handfuls of engines returning to my area for some end-of-life assignments, such as these daily booster trains. I have enjoyed this by all means, taking so many photos that some of my watchers must've been annoyed, but now that I'm hardly seeing any, I guess it was worth it.

Yes, I realize that I could go elsewhere to shoot some 110s. But if the line that brought one past your house every day now lacks the one locomotive you can get excited about, it does feel kinda sad. Perhaps the 111s will be special in a few years, considering that some have already been scrapped. As of now though, they're too young to be old, and too old to be interesting from a technological point of view. And they lack the characteristic face of the 110, on which they are based.
