Last Mohicans

The DB class 111 and 120, some of the last classic locomotives to be comissioned by the former Bundesbahn, along with the 112 from the former GDR. The 111 is basically just an improved 110, a classic single-phase AC locomotive, with the most innovative feature being the DB standard cab. It featured an ergonomic and unified layout, so that drivers wouldn't need much training when learning how to run different kinds of locomotives or multiple units. As a result, all locos that were built after the 111 were fitted with the DB standard cab, be it the 120 we see here or the latest generation ICE.

This is an older shot, taken at Cologne Central, as I haven't been very active lately... I liked how it was perfectly straight, no editing required, nicely showing the catenary maze near the station.
