The 110 year old Kaiserwagen gracefully drones past some futuristic looking thingies on the roads, about to pass through the station Kluse. It's doing the regular round-trip from Vohwinkel to Oberbarmen and back, with coffee and cake being served on the way, as well as staff wearing historically correct outfits. It's always a pleasure to see this old machine running down the line at least once a day, but it's even more impressive that the 00 series as such was in service till the mid 1970s before it got phased out. 00 of course means that they were built in 1900.
This train, composed of motorcar No. 5 and powered trailer No. 20, is the only preserved vehicle of the Schwebebahn that's in working order, being a protected monument. The nickname stems from the fact that emperor Wilhelm II. rode the then newly built line in 1900, doing so in car No. 5. If you're interested, here's a little video, showing how it feels like to ride it. Most interesting part starts at 3:00, when one can see the old style throttle wheel and air brake valve at work.
As for the title, it's what Jamey May said as he was being overtaken by a Honda Civic while racing from London to Edinburgh in a 1949 Jaguar XK120. He ended up winning against 60163 Tornado and a Vincent Black Shadow. Though in this case, if you're stuck in a traffic jam, even the most modern car could not stop the Kaiserwagen from overtaking you.
I enjoyed the video.
Glad I could show you something interesting.
Ja, dann zack zack, auf nach Wuppertal!
