Muscle Power

An everyday scene from the Kurtekotten airfield! Operated by the Luftsportclub Bayer Leverkusen, this 1000 meter grass strip usually only sees gliders and small single-engined aircraft. But for certain special occasions, some historic aircraft might come by to pay us a visit. On one of those occasions, me and mom went on a short round trip in an Antonov An-2, the world's largest single-engined double decker! I'm quite certain that my ears suffered permanent damage from that Soviet-made 1000hp radial engine...

The glider seen here btw is a Duo Discus XT, a high performance 2-seater built by Schempp-Hirth. According to Wikipedia, even the United States Air Force Academy uses it for glider contests, giving it the designation TG-15A.
