Description

After seeing how happy I was with the books and builder's plates I received, a friend of ours promised that she'd give me all railroad related stuff they find while clearing out the cellar of her dad's apartment. As you may remember, he passed away last year, and I hardly knew him, which is quite a shame. Most of the stuff consisted of books, all of them very interesting to me. Nice to see rolling stock that has already been phased out being praised as all new and modern back in the day.

Also among the lot were the items we see here. His Bundesbahn uniform cap, roll-film, and 35mm camera. It appears to be fully functional, though the shutter is a bit slow as it obviously hasn't been used for many years. A one second exposure turns into about three seconds, but that should heal itself if one releases it a few times. If not, one can always take it apart to clean out the stiff lubricant and add a new one.

As you can probably guess, these items are of great value for me, and I truly appreciate that they trust me enough to hand over such personal items without a second thought. The said friend jokingly said that one might try to sell some of it on ebay. Even though it's not my dad's stuff, and even though I hardly knew the man they belonged to, I'd never want to sell any of these.

Sweet. The 35mm camera looks well made, with range-finder focus. I have an Agfa Shur-Shot of similar vintage to the roll-film camera. [link]
