A little something I brought home from this year's ski trip, thanks to mom spotting it at the tourist information desk. It's a 1:32 scale model of a CWA OMEGA IV cabin, which is available with 4 to 16 seats for use with monocable detachable gondola lifts. And it's not just for show, as the spring-loaded cable grip allows it to be used with working Jägerndorfer model lift sets. Not that I have or want one of those, but it's nice to see that it's more than just a non-functional toy.
In case you didn't know, I'm a huge ski lift nerd, as I've been skiing since I was 3 years old. Most people don't pay much attention to the lifts (just as they don't pay attention to trains) but I was always interested in all the little technical details that such constructions had to offer. My fave type has got to be the oldschool detachable bicable gondola, like the Brauneckbahn. Sadly, it was renovated and fitted with modern cabins, but the bicable system was left in place! I had the pleasure of riding that one quite often in my youth, as we had relatives in Bad Tölz who let us stay at their place for free. Up until 1999, they kept using the original cabins from the 1950s, which still had manually operated doors!
Das stimmt natürlich. Auf YouTube gibts auch einige lustige Sachen, wie eine Seilbahn vom Balkon hinunter in den Garten. Wieder ein Fall von "Man kann alles übertreiben"
