I had scanned that photo with my rather lousy scanner, so the thought of putting up a better version has lingered for quite some time. This was recreated from the negative at my photo-store of trust, now having a much higher quality. Did some minor editing to exposure and colours, so I think it looks about right now.

Also, I haven't resized it, due to aliasing effects appearing even without sharpening etc. So if you want the original in all its glory, just hit download. Be advised: The file is over 7mb large!

The description of the earlier pic explains what we see here in detail. To put it in a nutshell: This was shot in summer 2000 in Budapest, at the terminus of the tramline 42, using a compact 35mm camera. These days, the reversing loop is no more, and these MUV (modernized UV) tramcars have also been withdrawn from service years ago. There were of course only twenty of these renovated ones to start with, one having been saved from the scrap heap. This here was in fact the last loop of the kind that circled a housing block in all of Budapest.

You may also have noticed the rail on the left, heading the other way. That is either a siding that is usually never used, or an industrial spur. It continues along the nearby railway line for a bit, but I'm not sure whether it actually connects to it.

Nekem csak ennyi van [link] több nem... Pedig sokat mentem velük, nem mert valahova akartam volna menni, csak azért mentem, hogy UV-val mehessek... Még mielött tudtam volna, mi is az az UV. Kedvencem a 41-es volt, a Battyány tértöl (közelben laktunk) egészen a Kamaraerdöbe... Gyönyörü hosszo menet volt. :(

Nem én találtam ki ezt a tipust. ;) Ugyanis a 90-es években lettek átépitve, bár én jobban szeretem az eredeti UV-t. De hát az sincs már.

Jó persze, csak arra utaltam, hogy "modern" a neve, holott baromi régóta megy már..

Ami a Deák térről jár a Kálvin felé 47-49es az UV nem? Három kocsi összekötve. Vagy már nem az?

Azt én is jobban szeretem, mint a MUV-t, de még a MUV is jobb, mint az 1-es, de sőt a Combino-nál is jobb, persze a Combino modern, meg csendes, meg Europer, de azért mégse olyan hangulatos. És akármilyen furcsa, nekem kissebbnek tűnik..

Már sajnos nem jár sehol. A 19, 41, 47 és 49-esen mentek azok utoljára, most Ganz ICS-k mennek helyettük, amik ugye felszabadultak a Combinok miatt.

Gondolom a kissebnek tünés azért van, mert német viszonyok után épült, tehát sok ülés, de viszonylag kevés állohely. Pesten ugye nem igazán ilyenre van kitéve a tömegközlekedés... Szerintem kár hogy nem hagyták meg legalább egy vonalon az UV-t, mint túrista attrakció vagy ilyesmi. A 41-es pont jó lenne ilyenre, hangulatos kis pályával.

Amúgy hallottam külföldieket beszélgetni a villamoson, akik azt hitték, hogy a régi 47-es (amikor még UV volt) egy nosztalgiajárat, és nagyon élvezték, én meg elröhögtem magam, és megmondtam nekik, hogy nem mi ilyen szerencsések vagyunk, hogy egy nosztalgiajárat az egész életünk itt Magyarországon :)

Amúgy mi a más Németországban? Mármint a Combino biztosan jó ötlet valahol, ha nem is Magyarországon, ahol az emberekre több villamos jut. Vagy nem a német tömegközlekedés más, hanem a tömegközlekedést használó ember? :)
Mert sajnos szerintem a BKV egy nagy szar....
