Description
Two Stadler Tangos pass each other near the Aescheplatz, with Basel's SBB station visible in the background.
These modern low-floor trams were introduced in 2008, operated by the Baselland Transport AG (BLT), hence the yellow-red livery. All of my previous tram photos showed rolling stock of the Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe (BVB), painted dark green. Originally, the BVB also wanted to acquire 20 of these tramcars, provided that tests results came back positive. But after conducting a passenger survey, they cancelled the contract, even though this resulted in a loss of 1.2 million Swiss francs.
