Siemens ES64U2, colloquially known as Taurus, heading towards Leverkusen Opladen after crossing the Wupper.
This particular specimen was delivered in 2002, owned by MRCE Dispolok and currently leased to the TX Logistik AG.
We had really beautiful weather today, so I left work earlier than usual to do some railfanning. Picked a spot that I had only used once
before, next to the freight line just north of the station Leverkusen Opladen. Sure, there isn't much traffic compared to the passenger line, and angles were limited. But I really liked this shot, with a nice low angle, giving the locomotive a very grand appearance. To my mind, the Taurus is one of the few modern locomotives that actually looks really good. And it's quite impressive in terms of performance as well, with a continuous power output above 8700hp and a top speed of 143mph. The slightly updated ES64U4 also holds the world speed record for locomotives with 357kph (222mph).
