The ground trembles as she roars past at 125mph, still among the world's most powerful locomotives, her beauty being an icon of the glorious past, when the TransEuropExpress was the real way of traveling. To see this mighty beast fly around the corner, packing ten thousand horsepowers in her streamlined six axle body, the proud metal emblem of the former federal railroad on the front...

Is just awesome.

Sorry for shooting it at the same place as I shot quite a few trains already, but this nearby spot is just ever so lovely for spur-of-the-moment photos. And with the 103 now hauling regular InterCity trains due to rolling stock shortages, where else to capture this magnificient machine, if not at this magnificient bend?

That's unstoppable AND invincible. Nice to see them in heritage trains after they served TEE :)

Indeed. :)

But, this isn't even a heritage train! It's a regular IC train, or more like an IC replacement train, which means that the 103 is now back in regular service for a while. :)

FINALLY! a picture of the BR103!

I was hoping someone would upload one <^_^>
I have a model of it (H0, AC digital) so it's nice to see a picture of the real one.

Sadly, no. That one is in a rather desolate state, having been cannibalized for parts for the still working 103s. They've towed it to Dessau for scrapping: [link]

I think they put on new pantographs and a new Hauptschalter because of some regulations. The original ones were red, that is correct.

ok, so, basically if they should be red or gray depends on the epoch of the layout?

if so, I need gray once, the layout is in epoch V (now) but with some older trains as museum trains, those do need to confirm to current regulations though.

As far as I know, pantographs of the 103 were always red, they probably used some others for this. I've seen some 111s with one red and one grey panto, so it's not really following any rules I think.
