Description
This was among the first shots I took of the steam train that ran between Düsseldorf Central and Mettmann Stadtwald during the scope of a small festival, featuring the Prussian class P8 that resides in the Bochum Dahlhausen railroad museum.
I really wanted a photo of the train crossing the Autobahn A3, currently a mess of roadworks through which I have to pass every day during my commute. However, I didn't anticipate that the steamer would be at the rear of the train during the first run. This was due to that end of the train pointing towards the small depot at the end of the line where the steam locomotive could take on water every now and then. Still, I kinda like the outcome, despite the less optimal lighting. But how often do you see a steam engine in such a modern day surrounding? And I also liked the quirky 3-axle car directly behind the locomotive. Always had a soft spot for those, but didn't think of boarding one when I rode the train later that day. Oh well, next time perhaps.

I wondered "Are those road or railway bridges in the background?" Checking took some minutes due to the lack of (normal) Street View in most parts of Germany, but... This is just east of Erkrath (a name I've seen before in a railway context, but I don't remember why). The next road south to this track goes under the A3, so the closer bridge is another railway and the farther one is a road.
