Genesis of Boredom

Went out to shoot the 103 again, but since you all might be bored by repetitive 103 pics, I thought I'd upload the locomotive that pushed the 103 into her grave back in the day (along with the ICE fleet of course). I'm talking about the 101, the modern multiphase-AC locomotive that is the mainstay of fast loco-hauled InterCity and EuroCity trains these days. This here, as indicated by the serial 001, is the first of the breed, delivered in 1996. In contrast to most previous locomotive generations, no prototypes were built, which is normally a recipe for disaster. But the 101 had virtually no teething troubles or serious flaws, and the ones that were discovered turned out to be so minor that they could wait until the next inspection to get fixed. It's sturdy, fast, powerful, efficient, and compared to a 103, needs very little maintenance. It does its job so well and in such an unimpressive manner that I consider it to be one of the most boring German locomotives you can think of.
